My Life is Insane

AAAHHH!!!!

That's me screaming over the insanity of my week thus far:

  • My MBA class is intense and time consuming. So much more than I was intending...
  • I'm still getting my house caught up after being sick (Yikes!)
  • I have two funerals and a wedding (I'm the Director of Music at church) and that's a lot for us in one week
  • We are breaking the baby of her bottle (well, most of them)
  • I have a marketing deadline that I haven't started on due, um, like in half an hour
  • My husband is working doubles all week because he has someone on vacation (he's a manager for a Blockbuster)
  • and I just got my 5th request for a full on my manuscript!!!! Now I have 5 rejections and 5 requests. Super happy :)
So here's my marketing question for you today: What do you do to keep yourself present in the literary world when you are bogged down with real life? And go...

Most of that is really good stuff though! Look at it this way - busy people get stuff done. And it can't last forever.

At least you aren't bored...? Often when my personal life gets to be too much, I check out on the writing world. Other times I escape into it by reading blogs, editing my manuscripts, or writing something new.

Whew! Busy girl. And congrats on the request! That's always a great feeling. When my life got too crazy, I actually took a break (just got back, in fact). I just needed to unplug from something for a little bit, and it helped a ton to get me more centered again. So if you need it, give yourself permission, even if it's for just a few days!

Wow, you're very busy! Congratulations on the fifth request. That's awesome! :)

Wow that IS crazy, but congratulations on the requests! Great news!

It's true - I always do better overall when I'm the busiest. Thanks for the reminder!

Great news on the requests, Laura!!! I haven't found the solution yet as to how to manage my time when I'm doing tons of other things! :(

4:30 a.m. is the magic hour for me when no one...or life... bogs me down with thing to do other than writing related. And wow! 5 requests? Awesome!

You deserve a cupcake, my friend.

*waves wand*

The house can wait, try to get in some down time before you wear yourself out.

hugs!

I just had to do this - I took a week off from the gym, spent some time in quiet thinking and figuring out what was really important. I think we all need to find that quiet, non-brain dead time. I'm thinking more and more mine is in the morning. Good luck! And remember, chocolate helps through most stress situations.

Drop everything and jump on the couch to celebrate that fifth request! Congrats!

I don't know how you are still standing after all of that. I enjoy your posts, but have you considered pulling back the blogging to address the other issues. My two-cents. Again, I enjoy your posts, but I also enjoy some bloggers, who only post once a week. :) Congratulations on the request. Doing a happy dance for you.

Thank you, Stacy. I have considered it. I AM considering it. Perhaps I was looking for someone to give me permission to do so (who knows why!) for which I'm completely grateful for your comment :)

Thanks, Len! Since there's no perfect solution, I'll continue trudging along as I have - LOL!

Thanks, Leigh. I actually find the opposite side of the day is my time: between 1 and 2 am :)

And will you be providing those cupcakes? :) My house is totally waiting, btw. I believe that a clean house is the sign of a dull life. LOL!

Laura Barnes said...

That's what I want to do! A week of quiet thinking. And sleeping. And chocolate. Now to work that in to the schedule...

Laura Barnes said...

Thank you, thank you! (takes bow). I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it up, but for the moment it feels good :)

Ha ha! I totally did that last night. I did nothing but sit with my husband and watch American Idol. If that's not taking a brain break, I don't know what is!

Wow! That is a lot of craziness going on, but it sounds like most of it is the good kind. Good luck!

Laura Barnes said...

Thanks! Not complaining, mind you. Just frazzled!

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but sometimes you just have to let something go! Sometimes it's the laundry or the vacuuming (that happens a lot in my house :)) and sometimes it's the writing. Just for a day or so. Just til you get caught up. But superwomen though we may be, we can't always do everything! Congrats on that 5th request! That is awesome!

Laura Barnes said...

Actually, that's exactly what I want to hear! Because I let go of the housework. And I got a babysitter for tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for the support!

Congrats on your 5 requests:):) I saw you had plenty of good comments on your query!! Idk if I have any savvy advice . . . I like having lots of activities but sometimes I do wish I could shut myself away at home for a week to regroup, but that's never gonna happen so I tell my family, "I just need 10 minutes to myself, please and thank u!" They can usually give me that. I spend most of my work for after 8pm after my youngest is in bed & the other one has got her nose in a book:)

Thank you, Jamie! I like the asking for 10 minutes advice. I have done that with my girls and they do a good job giving it. I shouldn't complain :)
