(I)f anyone tells you they’ll do it all for you, RUN. If the author is not involved personally, lending his voice and personality to social media, the desired effect will not be achieved. The whole point of social media is to shorten the distance between the passionate reader and the passionate writer. Social media marketing is the new book tour or bookstore reading. The author is the magic. Those are some dang good words to remember.
Be involved. Be yourself. Be the magic.
Are you magic?

I've been Magic all my life
Amen to that.
Hi Laura, great blog here! Thanks for visiting mine and commenting. I really like your take on this. Getting involved is what it's all about. Great quote too, thanks for sharing that.
I totally agree! I especially like the statement "Social media marketing is the new book tour or bookstore reading."
Someone could technically do it all for me, if they pretended they were me. Sort of like a ghost writer.
LOL! I would have guessed that about you.:)
You are the living example of this post. :)
You're welcome and thank you!!
Yes, that's a great post! Thanks!
LOL! You could totally do that. People do hire others. But it's never as good as if you do it yourself. :)
I'm involved! Besides, can't imagine paying someone to do it for me. Clones yes, paying someone no.
You? Involved? Hmm... (LOL)
Good advice!
Thanks!
Such in-depth involvement is what some self-pubbed authors tend to relish, having the ability to be hands on in the process from start to market.
That's a great point. I see so many people complaining about all the work, it's great to hear the opposite. :)
I run a fantasy blog; I'd be a charlatan if I wasn't magic :P
